Hotshot Orchestrator

Questions and answers

Short answers to what people ask about Hotshot Orchestrator. For the full tour, read the user guide.

Basics

Is it free?

Yes. Everything on your own computer is free and works offline. Hotshot Sync, which connects your devices, is a beta and free for now.

Which agent CLIs does it run?

Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity and OpenCode, plus any other terminal command. Claude Code gets the full integration (hooks, live status, claim enforcement); Codex gets MCP tools and hooks; Antigravity and OpenCode get MCP tools; anything else runs as a plain terminal. Install at least one and sign in to it before you start.

Does it include an AI model?

No. Hotshot hosts no AI. Each agent uses the model of the CLI it runs, under your own subscription or key with that CLI's maker.

Do I need an account?

No. The app needs no account. Only Hotshot Sync asks you to sign in with a Hotshot account, so it knows which devices belong together. If you host the Sync relay yourself, no account is needed at all.

Your data

Where does my data live?

In one data folder on your computer: %APPDATA%\HotshotOrchestrator on Windows, ~/Library/Application Support/HotshotOrchestrator on macOS. It holds your workspaces, agents, settings, logs and the hub's plans, messages and memory. Secrets (Sync device keys, your account session, sign-in tokens for services you connect) are kept in the operating system's keychain, never in that folder. The agent CLIs keep their own conversation history in their own folders.

What does the app send to Hotshot?

Nothing, unless you turn on one of the two switches in Settings → Privacy: Crash reports and Usage statistics. Both are off by default and contain no name, account, files or prompts. The app does check the download site for updates, which, like any web request, shows the server your IP address. If you use Hotshot Sync, the service stores your e-mail address and your devices' names and keys; everything between your devices is end-to-end encrypted and the server cannot read it. Details are in the privacy policy.

How do I move the data folder?

Settings → General → Data folder. The app copies your data to the new folder and restarts there. Sync stays paired. The old folder is kept until you delete it. To move to a new computer, copy the data folder there and sign in to Sync again: device keys never leave a machine.

Installing

Why does macOS ask for my keychain password?

If you used an earlier build that was not yet signed, the keychain items it made (Sync device keys, the account session, sign-in tokens) belong to that old signature. The signed app asks once per item. Enter your login password and choose Always Allow, and macOS will not ask again. Choosing Deny makes the app look like a new device to Sync.

Why does Windows warn me about the installer?

The Windows installer is not code-signed yet, so Microsoft Defender SmartScreen shows "Windows protected your PC". Choose More info and Run anyway for a file you downloaded from the download page. The warning goes away once releases are signed with Hotshot Interactive's certificate.

How do updates work? What is the beta channel?

The app checks for updates and installs them itself. In Settings → General you can choose the beta channel to get releases earlier; beta users also get every stable release. Switching back to stable never downgrades: you stay on the beta until stable passes it. To go back to an older version, install it from "Previous version" on the download page, then use About → Restore a state backup if needed.

How do I uninstall it?

If you use Hotshot Sync, remove this device or delete your account first. On Windows, uninstall Hotshot Orchestrator from Settings → Apps. On macOS, quit it and move it from Applications to the Trash. Uninstalling leaves your data in place, so you keep it across a reinstall; to remove it too, delete the data folder (see above, or the folder you moved it to) and, if you like, the keychain items named HotshotOrchestrator.

Hotshot Sync

How do I pair my phone?

Install the Android app from the download page. Sign in with the same Hotshot account you use on your computer. The phone and the computer show the same eight-digit code; check that they match and approve the phone on the computer. Your computers and their agents then appear on the phone, with push notifications when an agent needs you.

What happens to my data if I delete my Sync account?

Settings → Hotshot Sync → Delete account removes your account and your devices' records from the service, clears this device's Sync keys, and disconnects your other devices. Your workspaces, agents and everything else on your computers stay where they are. Use Export my data first if you want a copy of what the service held.

Using it

How do I remove an agent or a workspace?

Stop the agent, then choose Forget. It asks first; the conversation stays in the CLI's own history, and a clean git worktree is removed. To remove a workspace, stop its agents and use the × on its card. Nothing on disk is touched.

Is it available in Turkish?

Yes. Settings → General → Language: English, Türkçe, or System to follow your operating system. The whole interface switches without a restart.

Is it accessible?

Interface size goes from 90 to 150 % (Settings → General, or Ctrl+= and Ctrl+-, Cmd on a Mac). VoiceOver and Narrator read the sidebar, agent rows and dialogs, and with Screen reader support turned on they read terminal output too. Every dialog works with the keyboard alone, shortcuts can be rebound (press ? for the list), and the app follows Windows contrast themes and macOS Increase contrast.

Licence and help

What is the licence?

The app's source is source-available: you may read it and build it to evaluate or contribute; redistribution and commercial use need a licence from Hotshot Interactive. The installed app comes under the end-user licence agreement. The self-hosted Sync relay is MIT.

How do I report a problem?

Settings → About → Report a problem makes a zip with the recent log, the version and your platform. Nothing is sent by the app: e-mail the zip to support@hotshotinteractive.com with what you did and what happened.

Where do I write?

Help: support@hotshotinteractive.com. Security issues: security@hotshotinteractive.com, never in public (see the security policy). Data requests: privacy@hotshotinteractive.com. More on the Support page.
